  • The Devil You Know by Protect Your Heart

Welcome/welcome back to the blog! Today, I don’t think it will shock anybody that we are here and talking about The Devil You Know by our lovely, wonderful mates in Protect Your Heart. If you’re not new round here, then you will know, that there are very few bands I love more than Protect Your Heart, and I am very honoured to be a part of the PYH family (and Bella is a PYH pup according to Matty). And whilst, I can actually say that I consider these lovely lads my pals, and I owe them a lot, as they’re not just another band I work with, they truly are pals of mine as Matty likes to remind me. I’m always honest in my reviews of their music, and if I sing their praise, it’s because I truly do wholeheartedly believe it. Last week, the boys returned with their latest single, and it slaps. This is a tune! Does it give my few holy grail tracks a run for their money? Not really. However, it definitely gives some other tracks a run for their money, and I’d put it in my top 50% of PYH tracks, which says something because every single one I love with my whole heart. This track has the classic Protect Your Heart sound that we’ve come to know, it’s not one of their heavier tracks, nor is it one of their lightest tracks. It’s in the middle. There are some rough vocals in the track, Mauricio on drums is a standout part of this track. However, all of the boys work so well together, and complement one another on this track, and all their other tracks. My favourite part of this track, is the fact, everybody knows I’m a sucker for a good tempo change, and Protect Your Heart understood the assignment for a good tempo change. The bridge on this track, leads to a decent, dramatic tempo change. And it was in that moment that I realised this track would have a hold over me for that part alone. Yes, I love the entire track as whole, and when I was writing my first impressions for Matty (which I do for every release) I was talking about how I loved the track, and then as soon as the tempo change hit, I genuinely had to pick my jaw up. It wasn’t just a metaphorical jaw dropping moment, no, I genuinely dropped my jaw. It was surreal. And I’m still blown away by the track when it gets to that part. As I say, I love the track as a whole, it’s a great track, and one that I love so much, and the energy on this track just gives me so much serotonin. Every time I somewhat fall out of love with music, Protect Your Heart always remind me why I do still love music. This is such an incredible track and one that I really do love. I’d highly recommend going and giving it a listen, because Matty, Kean, Mauricio, Anthony and Jake have knocked it out the park with this one. Whilst, yes, it doesn’t beat Close To You, Last to Love You or Embers, it definitely gives the likes of Fireproof and Ghosts a run for their money. This track met all my expectations, and even exceeded them, which I constantly wonder how that’s possible because I have such high expectations for the boys, and there are very few bands that hit the mark like this lovely lot do. And, when I say that, I don’t just mean in underground bands, I mean in general. Everyone knows that Protect Your Heart has a chokehold on me for the pure fact that they are so incredibly talented and just constantly kill it. They’re hard to beat, and if there were 5 bands I had to pick to listen to for the rest of my life, or to showcase the music I love the most, then Protect Your Heart is probably going to be the first band that I name on that list. I genuinely, love them so much. They’re surreal. I think by this point, it would surprise nobody that I am happily giving The Devil You Know a solid 5 out of 5 lemons, seriously, do not sleep on the boys or this track. Go and some them the love they well and truly deserve. I will never stop singing my praise for my pals, because they genuienly are just such a surreal band, and if you just give a bit of time to listen to their discography you will see why I put them on such a pedestal, why I love them to the extent that I do, so please, go check The Devil You Know out, and give the boys some much deserved love and support. Welcome/welcome back to the blog! Today we’re back with a new feature post! And we’re talking about the latest single from our friends in Light Grey. Light Grey dropped their latest single Loser on Friday, and I’m here for it! It’s so great to finally hear new music from Light Grey, and it’s been so highly anticipated.  It feels like we’ve been waiting forever and a day for Loser to drop, and I’m so glad it’s out and we get to hear just how incredible it is! Light Grey never disappoint. And this track is no exception to that, it’s got such a nice feel to it. Some nice grungy elements of the track. It’s such a great track, and this has to be one of my favourite Light Grey tracks. It’s incredible. There’s just something about this track that really hits the spot. It’s such an incredible track, and it just hits the spot.  This is truly such a belter of a track! I’m really impressed with this track, and I really do love it! I’m blown away by this track, and I knew it’d be a great track, because it’s Light Grey and they truly are such an incredible band, and they’re far too underrated. It’s catchy as always, but it’s got a bit of a dirty, grungy feel at times and it’s just such a great track that really does impress you.  I’m blown away by this track, it’s worth the wait, and I absolutely adore it! Light Grey really are just THAT band! They know what they’re doing, and they do it well; which is showcased in this track. I absolutely adore every second of Loser. If you haven’t heard this song yet, then I’d highly recommend you going and checking it out! If you’ve never heard of Light Grey before, take this as a sign to go and give them a listen. They’re such an incredible band, and they always impress me. They’re lovely as well! Just an all round, great band. Absolutely adore them and this track!  Loser is everything I could have hoped for and more. It’s exceeded all expectations. There’s some nice little tempo changes in it, and it’s just great. There’s so many elements in the track that means you continue to be engaged with the track for the duration of the track.  Overall, Loser is an incredible track, and one that I know so many people will enjoy and appreciate! It’s exceeded my expectations for it, and I’m genuinely really impressed. And therefore, I’m more than happy to give Loser a solid 5 out of 5 lemons! Light Grey really have hit the spot with this one, and I’d highly recommend going and giving it a listen if you haven’t already!  Where To Find Light Grey;  Spotify InstagramTwitterFacebookYouTubeApple Music   Where To Find Me: Here on LifeIsALemon more days than not, at 7pm (UK Time)  TwitterInstagramTikTokFacebookMy Novel Small Band Appreciation Playlist (Spotify) For all blog related enquires contact me at myvoicebrandnew@hotmail.com

  • my head spins ep by Until You Disappear

Welcome/welcome back to the blog! It feels great to be back again, today we're talking about the debut EP from Until You Disappear! We love this lot! They're incredible, they always hit the spot, so we know this EP is going to be great! my head spins ep was released last Friday, and I'm super hyped to be bringing you a review of it! Let's kick of this review by talking about the first track, HEADSPINZ, we did a full review of this track, and it still hits the spot. I actually like it more now than I did when it was first released. It's got such a great feel to it, and I just adore every single second of this track! There's just something about this track that's infectious, and I love it! This track is still a bop, and it's just such an insane track! If you haven't heard it already, then you need to go and change that! It's insane! Truly such a perfect track, and I love every single second of it! Such a solid opening track. Next up comes DEADBEAT which was another single off the EP. It's another great track, and again, this track has grown on me more and more. I love it so much more now, and there's just something about this track. I did a full review of this track as well, but it's just insane. It's great. It gives me WSTR vibes, and I'm just here for it! I love it so much! I truly cannot comprehend just how insane this track is! I love it so much! If you haven't heard this track before, this is a strong track to start on. So, that makes it 2 solid tracks, can we have 3 more solid tracks? Track 3 comes in the form of LIES. This track actually features our friends in Autumn Fires! This was the collab we needed, and they absolutely killed it on this track! Truly such a perfect track. I love that this one has a bit of a different feel from the previous tracks, there are some nice tempo changes in this track. I love the feel of it, and this may be my favourite track on the EP. It truly is perfection, this collab has really hit the spot! I love every single second of this track, and this is truly everything I needed to fall in love with this EP. It's got such a great feel to it, and I know for a fact this track is going to be in heavy rotation. This is a standout track for me, it's just beautiful. I love this track. From the vocals to the tempo changes, to the guitar, and bass and drums, and just everything about this track. It's true perfection. The lyrics are also everything to me. I love every single second of this track, well and truly in love with this track! This track is everything I could have hoped it would be and more! Cannot recommend checking this track out enough. This is the one track I would recommend listening to if you're only going to pick one of the 5 tracks! Next comes SOBERFACE. This is a different feel to the previous track, and to me, that is great because I've spoken many a time about how I want every track to stand out, I want to be able to listen to the EP and be able to identify every track, I don't want them all to blend into one long track because to me, that just doesn't hit the spot. It doesn't keep you engaged, and it doesn't impress you. It doesn't show the range of a band, and that's one thing I love about this EP. Every track on this EP stands out from the other track. This is another track with an incredible set of lyrics, and the guitar on this track, that is magnificent! Like, I'm truly speechless at how insane this track is! I love every single second of this track, and it reminds me of another artist, like always, I can't quite pinpoint it, but I love it. It almost reminds me of The Bitch Song by Bowling For Soup. I just love this track, this is yet another incredible track! Finally, the EP ends with SEE ME IN HELL, which was another single from the EP. I loved it then, and I love it even more now. It's definitely grown on me more and more, like the previous singles. This has that WSTR sort of feel to it as well, and I'm just here for it. I love it so much, it's got a great feel to it, it's engaging, and it packs a punch! I love it! I actually can't quite explain just how incredible this track is! It's insane! I truly just adore this track, it hits the spot, and it's great. No complaints. It's a great song and a great closing track to the EP! I think it's safe to conclude that I adore this EP. It's truly a masterpiece, and I'd like to say that it will make the list for the lemon awards. It's great. It's got an amazing feel to it, and truly, it's just magnificent! Every track hit the spot, and LIES really did win me over. I don't think anybody would be shocked with my rating of 5 out of 5 lemons! I love Until You Disappear, and this EP really proves just how incredibly talented they are! They're an incredible band and one that I will forever recommend! If you haven't heard this track already, then you need to go check it out! It's just incredible! Please, go show this EP and the band the love and support they deserve!  Where To Find Until You Disappear;  SpotifyInstagramTwitterFacebookYouTubeApple Music Where To Find Me:  Here on LifeIsALemon more days than not, at 7pm (UK Time)  Twitter Instagram TikTok Facebook My Novel  Small Band Appreciation Playlist (Spotify) For all blog related enquires contact me at myvoicebrandnew@hotmail.com

  • DEADBEAT by Until You Disappear

Welcome/welcome back to the blog today we’re back with another blog post! I know, shocking, who knew I could upload so much in a short space of time? Anyway, w’ve got another feature post today, and this time we’re talking about DEADBEAT which is the latest track from Until You Disappear. We love Until You Disappear hear, and they’re just such an insane band! They know what they’re doing and they do it well, and DEADBEAT proves that. This is another solid track from this wonderful lot, I love the flow of this track, there’s some nice tempo changes in the track, whilst they’re not overly dramatic, they’re still nice, and the whole make up of this track wins me over. I love the whole vibe of this track. It’s got a lovely feel about it, and it really does hit the spot! I love how this track flows, and this might actually be one of my favourite tracks from Until You Disappear. In a way, I do sort of get Drunk Me vibes from this track, and maybe that’s why I love it as much as I do. However, that isn’t the only thing I adore about this track, the drums are phenomenal on this track. They’re the stand out element, and there’s just something about the drums on this track that gives me that audible euphoric feeling. Truly, such a great track! I had pretty high expectations from this track because I always have high expectations for Until You Disappear because they're one of the bands that just NEVER let me down. However, I truly didn't expect DEADBEAT to be as incredible as it is! This truly is an absolute belter of a track! This is one that I actually cannot comprehend just how incredible it is! The flow of this track, the vocals, those tempo changes, the drums, the guitar, the sound engineering, the bass, everything about this track is a big yes from me. Truly, flawless. There's something about the sound of this track that is just so catchy and infectious, and one that I know will be making its way into heavy rotation instantly. This is a track that, if I heard it live, I would simply lose my shit. This is truly such an incredible track and one that has really impressed me. I think it's safe to say that I'm more than impressed with the new track from Until You Disappear, and this might even be worthy of getting nominated for release of the year... who knows? But this truly is a magnificent track and one that truly has blown me away. I don't think I anticipated this track being as good as it is, but not the bar has been raised, and the standards have been set. If this is what Until You Disappear is offering, then I'm super excited to hear what comes next! To conclude, I'm confident in giving DEADBEAT a solid 5 out of 5 lemons. Such an incredible track by such an incredible band! Really impressed with this release, and I'm confident in recommending this track to anybody that's willing to give it a listen. It's just incredible. Well, and truly love this track! Please, go and give this track and just Until You Disappear in general some well-deserved love and support!

  • Recent Releases: Decade & A Day, Misplaced and Those Without

Welcome/welcome back to the blog! It’s been a busy couple of weeks in the music scene, so in todays recent releases post we’re talking about some of our favourite bands here! Today we’re featuring, Those Without, Misplaced and Decade & A Day. And after tomorrow's post there should be no backlog!  Let’s kick off this post with talking about the latest track from Those Without. I LOVE Those Without. Bittersweet is one of my favourite albums ever, so I was super stoked that they were releasing new music. And YOU DEFINE ME doesn’t disappoint. The tempo changes in this track are something else and that chorus just hits the spot for me. This track hits the spot for me and I’m OBSESSED with it. This is one of the best releases of the year so far, and it’s truly phenomenal. This track is super catchy, it packs a punch and it’s just everything I could have hoped it would be and more. I’d say it definitely still has that classic feel and sound from Those Without that we’d expect, but it has got a bit of a different feel than the previous tracks and the like of Bittersweet. It’s got a bit of a heavier sound to it, and I’m just here for it! It’s just so catchy, and it reminds me of another song I’ve heard before, but I can’t quite pinpoint it. So with a mix of some subtle rough vocals and a familiar sound, Those Without are here to prove a point and they’ve killed it! They’re absolutely killed this track. I’m super hyped to hear what they release next after hearing this track, and I know for a fact this is going to find it’s way into heavy rotation, in fact, it already has. This will be making its way quickly onto my daily playlists and I’m just in love with this track. That chorus is just such a large source of serotonin for me. Honestly, obsessed! Cannot hype it up enough! You NEED to hear this song if you haven’t heard it already, because it’s truly everything you could want and more. This is truly perfection in the form of 3 minutes and 40 seconds of music. Truly, in love with this track. Please, go show the lovely lot in Those Without the love and support they deserve on this track! It’s insane, truly magnificent! This track is getting a solid 5 out of 5 lemons from me! I’m so blown away by this magnificent anthem from Those Without. This is going to be stuck in my head for WEEKS!   Where To Find Those Without;  SpotifyInstagramTwitterFacebookYouTubeApple Music   Next, let’s talk about our wonderful, Scottish friends, Misplaced! We all know Misplaced are next level, and they are insanely talented at what they do, and they just never disappoint! GET THRU THE NIGHT is another example of how they never disappoint, because this track goes HARD! It’s insane, it’s past paced, it’s punchy, it’s everything you could want and more. It’s that classic Misplaced sound that we all know and love. This is just such a belter, and I’m well and truly in love with this track! It’s mind blowing just how insane this track is. This is a track you would 100% lose your shit to if you heard it live. This is just something else, and this new era of Misplaced is just something else. It fills me with such a euphoric feeling hearing this track, and I truly would describe this track as pure perfection! Like, honestly, if you haven’t heard this track yet, then 1. What are you doing? And 2. Please go and change that. I cannot get enough of this track, and I know for a fact, this is going to be a track that I play so often, and on repeat. This track will be in heavy rotation, like the rest of Misplaced tracks. They’re truly a band I could never get sick of. I love them so much, and tracks like GET THRU THE NIGHT are perfect examples as to why! Honestly, this track is everything. This is without a doubt, an anthem! I’m now saying that it beats the likes of idk why i try and fuck that, i’m alright, however, it definitely isn’t far off those tracks. This truly is a masterpiece and I cannot comprehend just how insane this track is! You need to hear this track if you haven’t already, because it’s something else truly! Please go show this track, and the lovely lot that are Misplaced, some much deserved love and support on this track, because it’s insane! This is another solid 5 out of 5 lemons track from Misplaced, and I’m super stoked to hear what comes next!  Where To Find Misplaced;  Apple MusicSpotifyTwitterInstagramFacebookYouTube Finally, let’s talk about Decade & A Day. It’s not been too long since we last spoke about them, but they’re back with an EP! How exciting is that! An EP from this wonderful lot! So let’s talk about it! The EP kicks off Gone Forever, which has such a wonderful feel to it, and it’s got that classic pop-punk feel to it. It’s not overly refined or polished in sound. It’s still a great track though, and a sound that very much suits the vibe of the band. As I say, it’s a classic pop-punk feel and it’s got a great set of lyrics to it. I really love this track, and I certainly love it more than I ever anticipated. Truly, magnificent. Cannot recommend it enough! The EP is already off to a great start with this track.  Next up comes, Useless, and this is another wonderful track and was actually a single. I love the feel of this track, and it’s got such a wonderful sound to it. This is definitely one of my favourite tracks on the EP, and it’s definitely a good starting point on the EP if you’ve never heard Decade & A Day before! This track really does showcase just how great they are. And those vocals on this track are something else! I love it! Such a phenomenal track, and I’m so impressed with it, and it’s another solid track on the EP.  Now we move onto Addicted To You. This is definitely my favourite track on the EP! It’s just so surreal and I love it! This is just such a punchy track, the sound of this track is just next level, and it’s actually the shortest track on the EP. I swear this track is laced with something, because I’m obsessed with it! This is truly magnificent and you, without a doubt, NEED to hear this track. It’s something else truly, and that makes 3 solid tracks on the EP.  Track 4 comes in the form of That’s Okay, and this is another track with a wonderful feel to it. This has the most refined sound to it, but it’s also got a bit of a different feel to it in comparison, but it’s so good! It’s truly wonderful, and I don’t think I’d expect anything less from Decade & A Day! Truly, such a wonderful band and this EP is really proving it. This is another track like the others on the EP, that has a nice subtle tempo change to it, and I’m truly just obsessed with it! I love this track just as much as the other tracks!  The penultimate track comes in the form of Hindsight and you know it’s a solid EP, when they save some of the punchiest tracks on the EP for the end of the EP. This is bit more fast paced, not too much faster than the previous tracks, but it has a slightly heavier, and faster feel to it in comparison. There’s also some subtle rough vocals featuring on this track. And that just wins me over with this track. It definitely means that this is another favourite track from Decade & A Day! Truly, magnificent! Love this track!  Finally, we have Fakers. And whilst the intro to this track feels like this is going to be a dud track, that isn’t the case for the track. It’s got such a great tempo change within the track, and you can feel it coming. It’s got a gradual build up, and that’s one of my favourite elements in a track. Whilst it’s still not the heaviest, nor the fastest track on the EP. It’s got a great set of lyrics to it too, and it’s just a great track in general. And whilst, it isn’t my favourite track on the EP, it definitely serves a purpose, and it’s a solid track for the closing track of the EP!  In conclusion, I actually really love this EP! It’s decent, it packs a punch, it’s got a listening time of under 21 minutes, so it’ll be a great EP to pass the time on a commute, and to be fair, I do really rate this EP, and could easily see myself listening to this on my daily commute to work. Overall, I’m giving this EP a solid 5 out of 5 lemons! I’m really impressed with it!  Where To Find Decade & A Day:  SpotifyInstagramTheir WebsiteFacebookYouTubeApple Music Where To Find Me: Here on LifeIsALemon more days than not, at 7pm (UK Time)  TwitterInstagramTikTokFacebookMy Novel Small Band Appreciation Playlist (Spotify) For all blog related enquires contact me at myvoicebrandnew@hotmail.com

  • Recent Releases: OnlyChrisAng, Small Talk and Zak Fox

Welcome/welcome back to the blog! There’s going to be a few blog posts this week because I’ve got a bit more free time this week and I’m adamant we’re getting rid of all of the backlog! So let’s kick off this weeks posts with talking about OnlyChrisAng, Small Talk and Zak Fox.  Let’s kick this off with talking about OnlyChrisAng, so a little over a month ago, he dropped a new track! This track comes in the form of Ugly. The track has a listening time of under 3 minutes, but we know that because it’s by Chris, this is going to be a hard hitting, impactful track.  It’s got a nice feel to it, and I actually really like the way the track flows. Chris’ vocals on this track are just as incredible as ever! Absolutely love this track, the lyrics go hard, and it’s just a phenomenal track. Although the context of the track is sad, it’s still a phenomenal track and I’m sure a lot of people would relate to at least some of the lyrics in this track. It’s a great track, and I love the purpose it serves. Yes, as normal this is a little different from my usual music taste, but I still love it and I love everything about it! It’s a wonderful track and it really does hit the spot. This is a classic Chris track, but I’m here for it and it’s got to be one of my favourite tracks he’s released. There’s just something about the sound of this track that hits the spot!  Whilst I understand this is not a track for everyone, and whilst I’m also aware that Chris’ music hits a bit too close to home for some people, this is a great track and it serves a purpose! I think this is an incredible track and one that definitely is worthy of some support. Overall, I’d give this a safe 5 out of 5 lemons! I’m actually a big fan of this track, and whilst I know not everyone will be here for this sort of track, why not give it a listen? It’s decent.  Where To Find Chris Ang: InstagramFacebook   Twitter SpotifySoundcloudYouTube    Next up, let’s talk about Small Talk! It’s been so long since we spoke about Small Talk, but they released a new track a few weeks ago titled Naive. This track features some incredible musical elements like those drums for example. The riffs in this track are also lovely. I just love everything about this track and whilst the intro is nearing on a minute long, it’s still solid! It’s a great track, and I love the feel of it! It’s got a lovely sound and feel, and it’s just a song that really does hold your attention. It’s verging on the longer side with a listening time of over 4 and a half minutes. But every second is worthwhile with this track. It’s engaging, it’s refreshing, it doesn’t seem overly repetitive. There’s always something to keep you engaged with this track, and lyrically this song is wonderful too! I’m actually really impressed with this song, and I found that as someone that seemingly doesn’t like longer tracks, this track is an exception to that. You get so engaged in the track that time just seems to fly by. I love the hint of rough vocals on this track too. A wonderful track, and one that I really do believe deserves more love and support! Super impressed with this track, a lot more than I thought I’d be. It’s definitely a track worth paying attention to. Overall, I’m going to give this track a solid 5 out of 5 lemons! Really enjoyed it, and I cannot recommend it enough!  Where To Find Small Talk.  TwitterFacebookInstagramSpotify Apple MusicYouTube Finally, for this post we’re talking about our friend Zak Fox. This new track from Zak comes in the form of Fallin’ 4 You. This sounds exactly how you’d expect it to sound, it’s that sound we know and expect from Zak. It’s a nice track, and again, it has quite a long intro with it verging on nearly a minute again. It’s still a really good track though, and these tracks are making me realise that maybe I’m not against long intro, and more so just against long, mundane intros. I quite like the tempo of this track, and it’s just got a nice groove to it. It’s just a nice track in general. It’s got a nice flow to it, which makes it a really engaging track. It’s quite an easy track to listen to on repeat, and whilst this isn’t the sound I go for everyday, so it’s more mood dependent, it would most likely work its way into regular rotation. I really like the feel of this track, and I think it’s the sort of track that would appeal to a lot of people. Definitely recommend it, it’s a nice track and has a really nice feel to it. I’d give this track a 5 out of 5 lemons. I do think maybe the track could do with a little more of a change to it, but I’m not going to knock it down for that, as it’s still a solid track, I’m just currently on a heavier music kick so that’s what I’m gravitating towards more currently. However, still a good track and I do think that a lot of people would love this track as it’s that classic indie track. So, why not give it a listen if you haven’t already.  Where To Find Zak Fox;  SpotifyTwitterApple MusicInstagram    Where To Find Me: Here on LifeIsALemon more days than not, at 7pm (UK Time)  TwitterInstagramTikTokFacebookMy Novel Small Band Appreciation Playlist (Spotify) For all blog related enquires contact me at myvoicebrandnew@hotmail.com

  • Recent Release: The Blams, Decade & A Day and Crashing Cadence

Welcome/welcome back to the blog! Today we’re back with a new blog post! We’ve got a lot to get through, but I'm going to split this up into 2 posts, so I'll have part 2 to this, up on Wednesday (I think). I know it feels like forever since I spoke about any new music, but I got a new job and it’s just getting the right balance. So let’s stop the rambling and get into this!  First, let’s talk about Crashing Cadence, now I’ve never spoken about this lot before because quite frankly I was only made aware of them when Luke dropped me a message asking if I could do press for the track. Now I will add, this track I’ll be talking about hasn’t been released yet. It should be being released soon, but we’re still going to talk about it. So Crashing Cadence are releasing their new track Lies soon, and although this is a bit heavier than a lot of the other artists we feature regularly, it’s still a good song, and I think if you’re more of a fan of your punk/punk rock, then this could be a great song for you. I really like this track, it’s heavy, it’s intense, it packs a punch, it’s anthemic. It’s got some nice little tempo changes in it, it’s got enough different musical aspects to keep you engaged. If you’re a fan of lighter music, then this isn’t the track for you, but I’m sure one of the other bands I’m going to mention will be. But this is a good song nonetheless. The more I listen to it, the more I like the song, and I think it proves that Crashing Cadence has a lot of potential. However, it probably isn’t a song I’d have in daily rotation, but I’d happily listen to it if it came on. As great and engaging as it is, I do wish there was little something else to the track. I feel, there are quite a lot of tracks out there similar to this one and that is my main criticism. It’s a good track, but there are a lot of other tracks out there comparable to it. Due to that reasoning, I’m giving this track a 4 out of 5 lemons. If it was a bit more unique then I’d give it 5, but it is comparable to other tracks. But if you like artists such as My Latest Failure, then go and check the track out. I think it’s very classic and true to the genre sound that the band are going for and it works for them.  Next up let’s talk about The Blams. It feels like forever since we spoke about this lot, but they’re back, a couple weeks ago they released a new single, and it’s time to have a little chat about it. The latest track is titled Storms and opts for a calmer approach, with some nice tempo changes to restore the balance to the track. It’s a great track that really packs a punch, and although this is a softer, calmer, less intense track, I actually love this track. It’s the sound I’m really drawn to currently. It’s great, and I love the feel of it. This is such a surreal track, and I’m well and truly in love with it. It’s incredible. It does everything I could have ever hoped it would and more. I’m honestly here for this track. This is a belter, I love the whole vibe and feel of this track, and it’s got everything I look for in a song. This is one of my favourite releases currently. It’s just such a nice track, it’s got more of that indie/alt-rock feel to it rather than anything else but I’m really diggin’ this sound currently. It’s great. This track is without a doubt a 5 out of 5 lemons track. It’s not overly refined and therefore gives the track a nice edge, and I just love it.  Now let’s talk about another new artist. Now I’ve had the pleasure of seeing this lot live for my first gig back when music returned last year. This is Decade & A Day, I saw them support Downcast (who I will be talking about later on in part 2 of the post). I was really impressed with them when I saw them live so I’m stoked they’ve released their new single, I’m So Sick. This song is immaculate. I’m in love with it. I actually forgot just how much I love Decade & A Day, they’re such a surreal band and one that really are deserving of your love and attention. They’re so incredibly talented and the vocals get me every time! Absolutely love them! Such a surreal band, and this track showcases just how phenomenal they are. Cannot recommend these guys enough, they’re just insane. They’re out here proving just how insane Notts bands are. Cannot recommend them enough. Love them so much, and this single is proof of just how great they are. I’m obsessed with this song, and this is another great recent release. If you haven’t heard it already, then go check it out because it’s insane! 100% a solid 5 out of 5 lemons track. This is insane. Cannot recommend it enough.

Welcome/welcome back to the blog! It's here, it's finally here! The full lemon awards from 2021, there's probably going to be a lot of repeats, and this time nephew 1 is picking the artwork, but let's stop the rambling and let's get these done! One major change this time is the lack of Best Frontman, drummer, guitarist and all that. Simply because, I only want to do that once a year, and this time we've just got live music back and all that, so we'll do those categories again for the 2022 awards, whether that be mid-year or full year, but let's give artists a chance to put out music, play shows and then we'll rank them again.  Full Year Lemon Awards 2021 Best Release;  20. • Recent Releases: Autumn Fires, Prime and The Headspace

Ahh! I'm back! Today we're talking Recent Releases again! I do need to do a part 2 to this post where I talk about Ollie Hayes and maybe a couple of others, but today I just want to talk about new singles. We're going to be talking about new tracks from The Headspace, Prime and Autumn Fires. I've been away for a few weeks because I've just been so ill recently. I've had tonsillitis, then I badly injured my ankle, and I've just not been vibing with life lately. But I'm back! Part 2 of this will be coming soon!  First up, let's talk about Autumn Fires, they dropped their debut EP a few weeks back, and I love Autumn Fires. I think they're a phenomenal band and one that have so much potential to achieve great things. However, part of me was a little lacklustre with the EP because every track besides 1 was something we'd already heard. There was only 1 new track on the EP, which I mean, thankfully, it was a new track, but it was released as a single and part of the EP at the same time, so I have mixed feelings regarding that. I feel like I've said before that if an EP is going to be 5-8 tracks, then I want to know there are at least 2 previously unreleased tracks. Whilst I absolutely adore the tracks, and this EP could be in the running for EP of the year (full-year lemon awards to come within the next couple of weeks), I just wished there was more than one unreleased track. But let's talk about the new track! The track is Small Talk. This is quite a fast-paced track that ends the EP perfectly. It's a punchy track and one of the strongest tracks we've heard from Autumn Fires to date. I absolutely love it; I really can't fault it. It's got a nostalgic pop-punk feel; it's fast-paced and refined. It's great to hear how far Autumn Fires have progressed, and they're just getting better and better with their releases. I think this is a phenomenal track, and I'm absolutely in love with it. I've listed to it a fair bit since it was released, and lyrically, this may be my favourite track off the EP. It's sassy, and it's here to impress the masses whilst also having the "I don't give a fuck what you think" attitude to the track. So, besides the fact there's only one new track on the EP, both Small Talk and the EP itself, Promises You Can't Keep are getting a solid 5 out of 5 lemons from me. I'm 100% here for it!  Where To Find Autumn Fires;  SpotifyInstagramTwitterFacebookApple Music Now, let's talk about Prime before moving on to The Headspace. Prime dropped another track titled, Sorry. Now, this track, I feel, is quite a typical prime track. It's got blues and folk elements on the track, which are one of my least favourite genres, but I still feel like this track is a classic Prime track, and I actually think it's one of my favourite tracks they've released. That does shock me because folk and blues elements in tracks usually make me automatically want to switch off, but I think the way this track has been done is quite enjoyable, and I do really rate this track! It's engaging enough to listen to that I don't find it boring, and I've got to admit, I just vibe with the whole track. It's got a more chilled out feeling to it in comparison to a lot of the other music I listen to and review, so I'm pretty impressed with this track. It's definitely one of my favourite tracks to come from Prime, and when it comes to my lemon rankings for it, then I've got to go with a solid 4 out of 5 lemons. I really enjoy this track, and I get why a lot of people are enjoying this track.  Where to Find Prime:  Spotify Instagram Facebook Twitter Apple Music Now, let's move on to The Headspace. These guys are some of Notts finest. Since I've been away, they've released 2 tracks, and we're going to talk about them both. I last spoke about The Headspace when they released Evergreen, and since then, I've found a whole new level of love for them. The first of the 2 singles is Smiles; now, this track is their classic sound but with some added pizazz. I absolutely adore this track, honestly. It's beautiful. I could listen to this for hours on repeat and not be bored. The vocals are better than ever, and the whole vibe of the track is just insane. Some nice little tempo changes to keep you engaged, and it's just such a surreal track. I absolutely love it. This is a superb track and one that I know will be a strong contender for song of the year. This is just such a surreal track. It's truly extraordinary, and I'm in love with it. This is just magnificent. I love it so much! The Headspace are such a surreal band, and this track is proof of that. This track has instantly won me over, and I'm well and truly in love with it!  The second track from The Headspace is Last Year Feels Like Yesterday, this is another classic track from The Headspace, but it's got a different feel to it compared to Smiles, but I still love it so much! I think it's incredible. It's got the same engaging feel to it that Smiles had, and I don't think I could pick a favourite from the 2 of them, they're both incredible tracks, but they both offer a different listening experience and they're different songs. They're both classic tracks from The Headspace, but they are different. I'd say this one is a bit more pop-orientated compared to the previous track, Last Year Feels Like Yesterday is more comparable to Solie whereas Smiles was more comparable to Evergreen. They're both surreal tracks though, and they're both strong contenders for track of the year. I love this track, just as much as I loved Smiles. They're both surreal, and that's why I'm giving them both a solid 5 out of 5 lemons. They've both got surreal vocals, and they've both got that classic The Headspace feel to them. They're both incredible, and they're both engaging and I cannot recommend these tracks enough! They're surreal!  Where to Find The Headspace:  Spotify Instagram Twitter Facebook YouTube Apple Music  Where To Find Me:  Here on LifeIsALemon more days than not, at 7pm (UK Time)  Twitter Instagram Facebook My Novel  Small Band Appreciation Playlist (Spotify) For all blog related enquires contact me at myvoicebrandnew@hotmail.com

  • Letdown by Give Me A Reason

Welcome/welcome back to the blog! Today we’re finally talking about our friends from Switzerland, Give Me A Reason. It feels like forever since we last spoke about this lovely lot, but we’re back talking about them again! They dropped a new track on Friday, titled Letdown.  This track has such a nice, refreshing feel to it. It’s got a sort of electric feeling on the intro, but when the track properly kicks in, you get the pop-punk and rock feel to it. I absolutely love the sound of this track. It’s super refreshing, and interesting to listen to. It’s got such a cool, catchy feeling to it. It’s a belter, and it truly does pack a punch. It’s incredible. It’s insane!  This track is just extraordinary. It’s honestly a masterpiece, and I’m well and truly obsessed with it. I’m just such a sucker for this track, this is everything I could have hoped it would be and more! Honestly so here for this track. It’s just insane, if you haven’t heard this track, then you NEED to go and check it out. It’s a masterpiece. It’s truly a magnificent track, and I’m in love with this track. It packs that punch I wanted it to, and it’s truly exceeded expectations.   Overall, I think it’s safe to say I’m obsessed with this track, and I think it’s an incredible track that truly does pack a punch. This is a masterpiece of a track, and although it’s similar to a lot of their precious track, it’s definitely a different song to the previous ones. I just love this track! • Recent Releases: Nautical Mile and Last Letters

Welcome/welcome back to the blog! Now if you missed the memo, I had a shoulder dislocation last week and was pretty much MIA and therefore, there’s a bit of a backlog so now I’ve got a Recent Releases post for you! Today I’m going to talk about Nautical Mile and Last Letters.  First up, I want to talk about Last Letters and their track, How's Your Low? Charles messaged me a few weeks back and asked if I'd do a post on the track, so here it is. I'm not overly obsessed with the track. It's alright, it's just a bit calm and summery. Which, I mean I was told from the get-go, so I can't fault Charles. It's got some lovely vocals on it, and the actual track is really nice to listen to.  I just don't 100% vibe with the track. It reminds me of another track, but I can't remember what it is, but it's another track I've featured on here before by a small artist. I'm not mad at the track, but it's something that I would have to be in the mood to listen to. I'd probably listen to it a lot though as long as I was in the right mood. I do think it's decent, I'm just not obsessed with it, as I prefer tracks with a bit more of a punch, but this is a good track nonetheless. I love the vibe of this track, and I can appreciate the incredible talent showcased in the track. I really liked the bridge though, but yeah, it's a good track. Just a bit mood dependant for me. I like it enough though, it's alright. I'd give How's Your Low? a 4 out of 5 lemons. It's alright. I'm a decent enough fan of the track.  Where To Find Last Letters:  Spotify Instagram Facebook YouTube Apple Music Now, let's talk about the ever so wonderful Nautical Mile. I think every man and his dog knows just how much I love Nautical Mile. They're the one band that never seem to let me down. Well, on Friday Nautical Mile released their EP, Embers. Embers is a five-track EP featuring the single, Purgatory, which I did a review of last year when it dropped. The first track on the EP is Dying Light. This is a song that grips my attention from the get-go. The vocals are just insane, and this track has such a lovely feel to it. It's loud, it's anthemic. This is the energy I want from a track, and especially the energy desired from an opening track. This is a solid track and one that truly does grip my attention. Those slight tempo changes are also phenomenal. I'm in love with this track. This, to me, is the perfect track. It has that pizazz that I want tracks to have. I love this track! Up next comes Purgatory, and as I said, I've done a full review of this track. I loved it. I thought it was incredible, and it was very much a Nautical Mile track. I've come to adore this track, and it's just as good as the first time I heard it. This is a track that will always pack a punch, and engage the masses. The midway point of the album is, Where Do We Go. Now, this track, from the intro had my attention. This sounds similar to the first track, and honestly, I love just how insane this track is. I knew from the first few seconds that this track was going to be one of my favourites. I'm well and truly in love with this track. Every single second of it, is just incredible. It's just a phenomenal track. You 100% need to check this track out. I'm in love with it, and I can't even explain the euphoric feeling this track gives me. This is a stand out track for me. The penultimate track is, Suppresion. This is another belter of a track, but when we've just heard Where Do We Go, I'm left feeling a bit lost with this track. I love this track, and the chorus goes hard. It just doesn't hit the same way that the previous track did, but this is in my top 3 of the tracks off the EP. I really dig this track. I think it's incredible, and those vocals! I swear, Nautical Mile never disappoint. The concluding track of the EP is the title track, Embers. This is another incredible track, the drums on this track are next level! I'm blown away by this track, this one hits like Where Do We Go for me, and I'd say this is my second favourite track off the EP. I'm in love with this track. It's so good, and it's so catchy and anthemic. I absolutely adore this track, and I think it's solid! This is a belter! 100% in love with this track! A solid track, and it's a solid closing track as well. From start to finish, I loved this EP. I knew I would though. Nautical Mile never disappoints. I'm obsessed with this EP, and I cannot recommend going and checking it out enough. Nautical Mile are a band to watch out for, and I'm so impressed with this EP. It's just as good as The Only Way Is Through. I love every second of this EP, and I cannot recommend checking it out enough! This is, without a doubt, a solid 5 out of 5 lemon EP! Go and check it out!  Where To Find Nautical Mile;  Spotify Instagram Twitter   Facebook YouTube Their Website   Apple Music Where To Find Me: Here on LifeIsALemon more days than not, at 7pm (UK Time)  Twitter Instagram Facebook My Novel  Small Band Appreciation Playlist (Spotify) For all blog related enquires contact me at myvoicebrandnew@hotmail.com

  • Losing Sleep by Autumn Fires

Welcome/welcome back to the blog! I’m finally back! I know it seems like forever since I last uploaded but I’m finally back to talk about Autumn Fires’ latest single Losing Sleep.  On this blog, we love Autumn Fires. They’re an insane band! They have so much talent! And they truly are a wonderful band that deserves a hell of a lot more love and support than they get. I’ve been working with them for about a year now and they just keep getting better and better, and they truly are a gift that doesn’t stop giving.  Losing Sleep is an incredible track just like the previous releases, but this one has such an incredible feel to it. It’s a classic pop-punk track like we’ve come to know and expect from Autumn Fires but with each single, the band get more and more refined and sound better than ever before.  Losing Sleep is incredibly engaging, it holds your attention for the full 3 and a half minutes the song goes on for. It features Charlotte’s incredible vocals, which are complemented by the guitar, bass and drums. I can't fault anything about this track. I love every second of it, and I truly think it's incredible. I love every single second of this track, and there are some nice little tempo changes in the track, which always win me over. I love everything about this track, and I honestly think it's wonderful, cannot recommend checking it out enough! This track truly does pack a major punch, and it's just such an incredible sound. This track sounds incredible, and I love that I could listen to this track for an hour and not get bored of it. I just love everything about this track. It's wonderful. Please, go check it out and show Autumn Fires the love and support they deserve. Losing Sleep is perfection, it's faultless, it's a masterpiece. I'm blown away by this track, and I cannot process just how insane it truly is. It's such a phenomenal track, and it's beaten my expectations for this track. I'm in love with this track, and because of that, I'm going with the rating I tend to give Autumn Fires, that being a solid 5 out of 5 lemons! I love everything about this track, from the bass to the lyrics and everything in between. Honestly, obsessed with this track!  Where To Find Autumn Fires;  Spotify Instagram Twitter Facebook Apple Music Where To Find Me: Here on LifeIsALemon more days than not, at 7pm (UK Time)  Twitter Instagram Facebook My Novel  Small Band Appreciation Playlist (Spotify) For all blog related enquires contact me at myvoicebrandnew@hotmail.com
