Welcome/welcome back to the blog! Today I am back from the pits of my brain again to talk about some more recent releases. So, today we will be talking about Misplaced, Distant Blue, Hometruths and Downcast.

Let’s kick this post off by taking about rain check by downcast. Now, if you’ve been here for long enough you know that I love downcast so much! I’ve had the pleasure of seeing them live, and I think they’re such an incredibly talented band. I think Liam is one of my favourite vocalists, because there’s just something about his vocals that reminds me of so many of the greats in the genre. But, every member of downcast is incredibly talented, and the music they’re putting out in this new era is solid. I love the previous stuff, I mean I think we all know how much of a tune Catharsis is, but there’s something about downcast that remind me of the likes of Moose Blood, Knuckle Puck and those sort of artists.

raincheck is no exception to the solid discography that downcast promote, and I’m here for it. I love this track, and it makes me super hyped for the next single. They’re such an incredible band and one that really does deserve a lot more love and support than they get. There’s a lot of pop-punk bands out there, and a lot of bands that I work with, but there’s something about this track, and this band in general, that sets them apart from the crowd. I work with a fair amount of bands, but there are some bands that I have a real big soft spot for, and downcast are one of them. They’re a band that if you haven’t gave them a listen yet, then you should. They’re insane. Such great music, and such a phenomenal band. And, raincheck is further proof of that. It’s hard to not fall in love with this track upon your first listen, and the more you engross yourself in the song, the more you fall in love with it. It’s insane. It’s incredible. It’s catchy. It’s fast paced, and it such an infectious chorus. I love every element of this track, and I genuinely think this might be in my top 3 downcast songs released to date.

Please, if you haven’t had the audible joy of listening to this track yet, then go and change that. It’s a solid track, and one that I love so much. It’s just further proof as to why I love downcast as much as I do. They’re such a solid band with an immense amount of talent, and nowhere near as much support and love as they deserve. I can’t not give this track a solid 5 out of 5 lemons, because if you’ve heard this song, you understand. This is one of my favourite tracks to be released in recent times.

Next up, we’re going to move to the North East of England, rather than the south west, and that means we’re talking about our pals Hometruths. It’s common knowledge that I love our Geordie pals, Hometruths, and they recent released a new single called HATE me, and they never disappoint so I went into this track with incredibly high expectations. If you’ve had the pelasure of hearing any Hometruths track, then you know that they are immense, that they always hit the spot, and that they really are one of the best bands out there.

HATE me is no exception to that, and actually, the bridge of this track gives me a lot of emotions, and at one point I was choking back tears because it just hit. And, if you know me, if you’ve been here before, then you will know if I can find comfort, or some relatability in a track, then I instantly love it more than I would without, because it means that I can use those tracks when I need music to comfort me, to offer some form of relatability to whatever I’m feeling at the time. So, instantly my original impression of the track was amplified by that bridge. Not that the chorus, and verse’ didn’t already win me over, but as soon as that bridge hit, I knew this was a solid track. I easily have to put this track in my top 3 Hometruths tracks, and that says something, because they have such an impeccable discography that I just instantly love 99% of the tracks they put out, even the ones that don’t make it up the top of my list, I love, but HATE me, just blows me away. This is such an incredible track, and one that I love so much.

Again, this without a doubt, has to be a solid 5 out of 5 lemons track. If you’ve never listened to Hometruths before, and/or you haven’t heard this track yet then please go change that, because you will not be disappointed. They’re just such an incredible band, and one that deserves a hell of a lot more love and support.

Now, we’re jumping to the city I refer to as home, the city that made me fall in love even more with small bands, and that I was able to build the blog off, but have seemingly become far less involved in (seriously, most the bands I worked with and new in the circuit have disbanded and due to my personal life I haven’t been at as many gigs, so I don’t know my scene as well as I once did). However, Distant Blue are a band I’ve spoke about countless times. A band that we all know I love, a band that packs a punch, a band that doesn’t typically do the same thing twice, and constantly offers an interesting and engaging listening experience. They always carry their tracks off well, but you can clearly tell the difference between every track put out by the lovely lot that is Distant Blue.

Distant Blue recently released another track, titled Caliber, and I have to admit. Whilst the track is approx. 3 minutes long, it seems to fly by. There’s elements of the track that remind me of my forever favourite, Distant Blue track, Come and Join The Party. There’s a dark feel to this track hidden behind the more electronic sound hidden within the track, which is reenforced by Ed’s vocals. There’s a great feel about this track, and I’m genuinely here for it. This is a phenomenal track, and considering some of the more recent Distant Blue tracks haven’t managed to give my favourite tracks from our Notts pals a run for their money, I think Caliber is the track that does give my favourite tracks a run for their money. And that’s saying something, because I genuinely love so many tracks that Distant Blue have put out, like Come and Join The Party, Amber Leaf, Whirlpool, whatever makes you feel safe, The Ghost of My Empty Glass, and so many more. So, considering the previous few tracks haven’t been able to give those tracks a run for their money, it gives me so much serotonin to know that Caliber is the track that is worming its way into heavy rotation.

If you’ve never listening to my pals in Distant Blue, then I would highly recommend that you go and give this track a spin, and maybe listen to some other tracks from their discography because they’re insane. They’re one of my favourite small bands, and they’re a band that I genuinely love so much, and that rarely disappoint me. they’re also insane live, and bring a lot of energy to their music, on and off stage. So, I think it’s safe to say, I’m not mad to be giving the lovely lot that is Distant Blue, yet another 5 out of 5 lemons for this track. It packs a punch, and reminds me just how much I have missed their music during the past couple of years where they haven’t been as active. Please, go show the lads some love!

Finally, let’s round this post off with talking about our Glaswegian pals, Misplaced. I’ve had the pleasure of working with this lovely lot for a good few years now, and they’re another band that I don’t think has ever let me down or disappointed me to date. So, when they announced that they were in fact back, with a new track, Blue Skies, it’s safe to say I was hyped for this moment, when I could ramble to anybody willing to acknowledge my thoughts, on the new track. It brings me great joy to share my thoughts on Misplaced, they have always exceeded expectations, and whilst they have gain a bigger following over the years that I have known them, they are by no means a big band. They’re simply a band that is slowly getting the recognition they deserve by jumping to new heights, and taking a chance.

Going into this track, I had no idea what to expect because Misplaced have often surprised us with the change of sound between different releases, but always with that underlying, pop-punk base. However, this track is everything I could have hoped it would be and more. It’s got a fast pace, it’s got tempo changes, and it’s brings a good level of energy to the listener. This is a track that really does cement the fact that Misplaced are back. And, let’s be realistic, if this is the sort of music they are putting out now, I’m hyped for what comes next. They’re such a phenomenal band, and this track proves that. This track packs such a punch, and I’m here for it. If you’ve listened to Misplaced before, then I can say that if you liked their earlier releases, you’re most likely going to love this track. It’s got early blink-182 and even early Neck Deep vibes to it, but there’s also an underlying sound that reminds me of I Miss You by blink during the slower verses of the track, but the chorus goes hard. And, we all know, if there’s a good tempo change in a song, I’m there for it, so with the tempo changes in this track, I would bound to fall in love with it. And I know for a fact, I’m going to be listening to this track a lot. And I have no issues with that, because I would highly recommend that everybody go and give this track a spin, because it truly is just such a phenomenal track, and one I have very easily fell in love with. All it took was one listen, and I didn’t even need to hear the full track to know that I was going to love this track so much, but after you complete that first listen, you can’t resist the urge to play this track on repeat.

Which, I think is why, yet again, Misplaced have earned themselves another 5 out 5 lemons, because holy shit. They did that! They really knocked it out the park with this ones, and I’m so glad that they’re releasing bangers like this. I love the vibes of this track, and I love the lovely lot that is Misplaced. So, please, if you have never heard Misplaced before, take this as a sign to go and give them a listen, because if like myself, you are a fan of pop-punk, you’re not going to be disappointed (at least I hope that is the case). Please, go show these lovely lads some much deserved love and support!
